TThe Cold War has an extensive list of close nuclear calls, but today we may be even closer. Within the Cold War, everyone was waiting for their opponent to make a mistake that would justify the first strike. Very similar to the political tactics used by Russia to justify their invasion into Ukraine. However, back in the 20th century, people were only waiting for someone to make a mistake. Today, all global powers are acknowledging the possibility of nuclear war from Russia, intensified by all the sanctions given out.

Something you are not seeing is that the Cold War is repeating, but this time it’s not just a focus on the U.S. and U.S.S.R., but on all the European countries and even those who previously left the boat (UK). Every country within Europe, especially the ones that are close to the border of Ukraine is moving their military to the border in the case of an unexpected move from Russia. Although such defensive procedures are justified, from a political perspective they are only pressuring the issue and increasing the possibility of Russia to start bombarding Europe with nuclear warheads.

You may think that the playing field is different than in the Cold War, but from a political perspective, it really isn’t, it actually worst.
