There wasn't much innovation at that period of time, yes there were some medical advancements but nothing revolutionary from this point of view and that is why I did not mention it.

This does not mean that in other cases it is not worth mentioning, the Spanish Flu pandemic was one of the biggest and it came up right after WW1, making it even more devastating.
