The First Ever Bullet
1825, a French infantry officer by the name of Henri Gustave Delvigne has seen that there was a need for a different weapon that would start a totally new era of warfare. He wanted something to utilize the devastating power of the gun powder to it’s fullest potential but, at the same time be small enough to carry around with ease. The best thing for him was to look at the cannons that use in a way a very close shooting system.
On the other hand, this project was not going to be as easy as it seemed as there was also a need for a new gun to chamber such technology. Therefore they have come up with a new invention that would revolutionize the gun industry once and forever. First of all, he has used the Delvigne system, the first firing mechanism which was a wood piece that would support the chambered round and the flint to fire the gunpowder in order to fire the round. However, the prototype had a flaw as the wood would snap after 5 shots so there was a need for a metal version that supports the pressure created by the explosion as well as the heat that was created by the explosion.
