I do see your point Chris and it is a valid one, however, in 3 years the RAF or the USAAF would have found some resources in order to bomb Rome as it would have been the heaviest blow the Italian could have received morally. Not only that but the effect of hitting the capital and showing Mussolini that the Italians and the Axis as a whole weren’t as invincible as they would have thought.
