Turda Salt-Mine, Romania (Source: taken personally by me)

This is another gem found within a foreign country that uses salt-mines as a tourist attraction. The cleaver thing behind this salt mine is that it’s actually exciting. Rather than presenting the salt mine for its historical value, this salt mine attracts its visitors with the amazing view and a carnival sort of vibe that makes you not wanna leave the place.

The Turda salt-mine is also known as one of the deepest in Europe (another selling point). It’s truly unique selling point is bringing entertainment into a very unique and spectacular place. I visited the place myself and it does feel like something out of this world.

Taking tourism to the next level

Turda Salt Mine is located in Durga-Valea Sarata near Turda. Salt extraction from the Turda Salt Mine began in the medieval period and continued until the beginning of the 20th century. It was closed for some time and was reopened at the beginning of the Second World War, but its usefulness is different, not that of extract salt.
