For quite some time I have started to believe that our psychical achievements can motivate our psychological goals that we set in life. Anything that we do in this life can be enjoyable even if it may seem as a difficult challenge. How about if you were to actually reach some sort of inner mental power that will allow you to see the challenge as a basic necessity that must be completed such as brushing your teeth every morning and night. Therefore I do believe that the power of our mindsets based with a persons locus of control can redefine the impossible factor of most challenges. This article has been written to show that you can do more and accomplish more than you think you can.
The summer is a wonderful time to be outside and be active not only because of the weather but also for the reason of the day being longer than any other period of the year. Usually in the summer period I end up having long walks with my friends and we try to avoid any means of transportation as we love to walk, this is mainly cause by not being so active the rest of the year, I am mostly stuck on a desk at a computer with the eventuality of going to the printer and back. So I would end up making at least 10 kilometres a day without wanting to walk this distance or sometimes not even realising that I am walking this distance and after a few days I started keeping count on my smartphone of how much I have been walking a everyday.
There have been days that I would feel a bit down or tired because of different reasons but that would not stop me for wanting to achieve my 10 km a day. This routine became as a streak that you would keep at a game by playing everyday, and even in the rainy days I would take out my rain coat and with my headphones on walk in the beautiful and mesmerising rain. As the summer continued me and my friends were setting out to journeys now and then to make the experience even more enjoyable as well as test our limits. We have firstly set to go out of the city to the nearest village that was around 20 km ( 22 km to be more precise). 11 km to get there and another 11 to come back. This time It would become a bit more difficult as we would have to carry provisions such as food and water but mostly water as it was around 30 degrees Celsius. After that fantastic journey we wanted more so this time we chose a destination that will require us to walk 40 km, I must say it was challenging but there was this feeling of pushing our limits that would make us strive for more. At the same time we would be motivated by the hunger of wanting to achieve this goal.
As the end of summer was approaching we have decided to have a real challenge that will really test us so 80 km it is. By this time I think that you all have notices that we would double the distance every time. No this would be joke but , a lot more serious so we have came up with a plan as well as a lot more resources such as medical kit, and other instruments that would help us in our journey. 80 km is a big number but the amount we have walked the whole summer does not compare so this made it easier. It was a long journey that has taken us 16 hours to complete with only 2 hours break to eat something. The only time that we wanted to quit was the last 500 meters back home, by that time our feet were aching so much we felt as if we were walking on burning charcoal.
After this journey we all felt so accomplished and with a motivation that made us say we can do anything we set our minds to. The reason that I have told you this story is for a better understanding to the ease that is to walk 10 km. At this time in life I still do not have a driving licencee for various reasons and I would image that 10 km would be a lot more challenging for a person that drives every day. But at the same time is about what you want as a person. As mentioned before this article is not neceserally written to show you that you can walk 10 km with ease but to motivate you into overcoming those challenges that may seem tough although you want to achieve them.
We must keep going!
